iPad Cheap - The Cheapest Ways to Get an Apple iPad

The easiest way to get an iPad at the cheapest price possible is of course to scour the internet looking for the best 3g, WiFi, 64G etc. deals. As we know the internet is a huge place, so this article has been written to narrow down to the choices and to help the public to find an iPad (or accessories) as cheaply as possible.

The main sites to go for are:

1. eBay- This may seem obvious, but many consumers do go direct to Apple for iPads. I have purchased many products from eBay myself and have had no problems receiving goods on time and in good quality. Make sure that the seller's ratings are high enough that you are confident. Also my advice is not to bid too early.

2. Alibaba.com - This is a well kept secret to everyday consumers. If you contact sellers directly you can haggle for the price. Also, if you can go to the effort of getting a few people together you can buy a few items at the same time and divide the products (including iPad accessories) between you to make savings.

3. Gumtree - At the time of this posting there were over 1,700 results for iPad - many at less than the market price.

These are among the most trusted sites of their nature. The best advice I can give is to either go to these sites (or sites like them directly) or find a site that will scour/search these sites for you and present you with iPads at cheap prices.

Who Will Be Selling the Cheapest iPad in the UK This Christmas?

The Apple iPad has been one of the consumer electronic hits of the year.

Since its launch in April 2010, Apple have been selling over 1 million Apple= iPad units a month and in the words of their chief operating office, "We're selling everything we can make".

The iPad first went on sale in the UK in April and was sold though Apple stores, Apple independent retailers, PC World and Currys.

Through all these channels the iPads were sold at the same price points i.e.

iPad 16GB Wi-Fi - £429
iPad 32GB Wi-Fi - £499
iPad 64GB Wi-Fi - £599
iPad 16GB 3G - £525
iPad 16GB 3G - £599
iPad 16GB 3G - £699

From July more retailers started selling the iPad and many people thought that this would be the point at which we would start seeing cheaper iPad deals. It was thought that more retailers offering the device meant more competition and usually with competition comes better prices for consumers, but it was not to be.

Even when these new stores came on board, the prices stayed the same. Clearly every retailers wants to sell Apple products because they sell so well. A consequence of this is that the retailers have to keep Apple on side and it seems that means sticking to Apple's recommended retail price.

It won't always be the case though that iPad is prices the same whoever you buy from. We just have to look at other Apple products like the iPod range to see that. It seems that at a certain point after launch, Apple relax their rules for retailers on pricing and the Price Wars begin.

The question is when will Apple relax the pricing rules on the iPad and will consumers be able to get some cheap iPad deals in time for Christmas?

There is a possibility of this. There are 2 UK retailers that are reported to have signed distributor agreements for the Apple iPad but haven't yet started selling; these are Tesco and Argos.

Argos tend to be fairly middle of the road with their pricing, but Tesco like push the boundaries a bit. Just look at when the iPhone 4 came out; Tesco were the only company to offer a tariff for £20 a month.

So if there is going to be any pricing discounts this Christmas it is likely that Tesco will be offering the cheapest Apple iPad if they come in to the market in time.

Trying to Find the Cheapest iPad? Three Things You Need to Know to Save Money on a New Device

With so many iPads to choose from, which one is the cheapest iPad on the market? With the iPad 2 coming in so many different variations, yet with similar features, it's not always easy to tell. Let me help you break down the options for iPad 2 models to find the cheapest iPad.

Wi-Fi-only

The cheapest iPads generally come in the Wi-Fi-only version. What does this mean? It means that you can get internet access when you're in the vicinity of your home wireless network or an internet café with free Wi-Fi. This way, you get free Wi-Fi whenever you link into the network, and you never have to pay any data fees like you'd have to with a contract.

There are six iPad 2 models in the Wi-Fi-only version. These are the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models, each of which come in black or white. The cheapest iPad in the whole bunch is the 16GB, Wi-Fi-only one. It costs $499, or for all intents and purposes, call it $500.

The next two Wi-Fi-only models in the lineup cost $599 and $699 for the 32GB and 64GB versions, respectively.

3G-enabled

If you plan to use your iPad on a roadtrip, on vacation or on business where you don't have access to a free Wi-Fi network, you might consider getting the 3G-enabled model. These come in the same storage sizes as the Wi-Fi-only and are offered through AT&T and Verizon networks.

Surprisingly, the cost of each of the iPad 2 models through both networks are identical. You can pick whichever provider you want and not sacrifice anything in the upfront price.

However, you'll spend $130 more per device for getting the 3G-enabled iPad. Plus, you'll have to spend at least $10 per month (with Verizon) or $15 per month (with AT&T) to actually use that 3G service.

So you're talking at least $140 more for the 3G version in the initial month than with the Wi-Fi only version. Wowzers! That's pretty expensive.

So as you can see, the 3G-enabled iPad 2 models are hardly the cheapest iPad choices you could pick from. If you really want to go cheap, you should get the Wi-Fi-only version in a 16GB model.

About the Storage

Now, why would you want the 16GB model as opposed to the other two, which have so much more storage? Well, one thing I've learned in my years of owning several Apple products is that you don't really need as much space as you think you need. You hardly need that much to browse the internet or read an iBook. You don't even need that much space for applications.

With 16GB of space, you can still fit thousands of songs, a couple of movies, some applications and more. Unless you plan on storing your entire 64,000-song music library on your iPad 2, you're probably better off getting the 16GB one, as far as space and price are concerned.

I think it's also pertinent to mention that the black and white models cost the same, so you don't have to choose between colors for a price savings. However, you'll be happier you took the black option, as the white iPad gets really dirty from fingerprints, dust and everyday wear.
