2) Plug the USB cable into your Mac or PC

3) Plug the other end of the USB cable to your iPad. Your iPad will not begin to sync with your Mac or PC computer.

4) Right click and select eject when the syncing is done.

Manually Sync to Your iPad

You can opt out of auto syncing and choose to manually sync your iPad.

2) To sync your iTunes library with your iPad, click the "Music" tab. Then check the "Sync Music" Checkbox.

iTunes categorizes videos into two categories: TV Shows and Movies. Each will have its own tab in iTunes. If you watch a lot of moves you will be managing videos a lot due to the huge file sizes. You can manually control what movies are added and removed on your iPad with the methods listed above. However, a simple way to manage movies is to set your iPad to remove videos on your iPad that you have watched. iTunes gives you the option to load unwatched videos, selected videos, or all videos. If you choose unwatched videos iTunes will automatically remove any video you have watched on your iPad and upload new videos you downloaded and have not watched.

The Verizon iPad 2: What You Need to Know About the Data Plans

The Verizon iPad 2 is just what many people needed to make them want to buy the new iPad. Previously, users could only choose between the Wifi-only version and the AT&T version of the iPad. Now, with more options available to them, users have taken advantage of a busted monopoly and opted for getting their data plans through Verizon.

But how does Verizon's data plans stack up to those at AT&T? Let's take a look.

Verizon offers more options: The Verizon iPad offers two more data plan options than the AT&T version. AT&T only offers two data types: the 250 MB per month plan and the 2 GB per month plan. Verizon offers four plans:1 GB, 3 GB, 5 GB and 10 GB per month. Verizon's services are cheaper: Even though Verizon does not offer a 250 GB per month option, their higher data plans are a better deal. When you could purchase AT&T's data plan for $15 per month for 250 MB, you can purchase Verizon's 3, 5 or 10 GB plans for only $10 per month, which is a way better deal. The Verizon iPad does not charge an activation fee: To be fair, neither does AT&T. But knowing that Verizon doesn't charge an activation fee to begin using the data plan makes using them as a carrier that much cheaper of an option. No fee for cancelling or reactivating: You can cancel your monthly data plan at anytime without worrying about getting charged for cancelling or for reactivating. The whole idea is to not tie yourself down to a monthly data plan that doesn't fit into your budget for 12 months. Verizon accommodates that for you, as does AT&T.The only advantage of going with AT&T over Verizon is if you wanted to pay $15 per month for 250 MB of data. Otherwise, Verizon's plans are far cheaper.

Verizon also has a track record of being more reliable than AT&T, at least in the United States. AT&T's GSM network is helpful for global traveling, but if you're trying to use your iPad at the ball park in the heartland of the United States, AT&T's network might let you down.

Getting the Verizon iPad doesn't cost you any more than getting an AT&T iPad. They're both more expensive than getting a Wifi-only one, but that's it. Verizon still comes in the same 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models as the AT&T one.

Also, you can choose from black and white the same way you can with the AT&T and Wifi versions. So you don't sacrifice anything at all by opting for the Verizon iPad over the AT&T one.

OtterBox Defender iPad Case Review

For those iPad users that value the look of their iPad case above all else, the OtterBox Defender iPad case is not only fantastic visually, but also features the necessary functions to improve the tablet experience in general.

With its simplistic, smooth styling and two-tone, thick striped color scheme, this is the accessory that's going to be turning heads wherever you take it. Whether you're heading down to the library to make a few notes, taking a pit stop at the cafe to send a few emails or simply sitting on the train playing some Angry Birds, this stunning case is bound to be a bit of a conversational piece.

However, the styling is not just for looks, since that thick white stripe is actually a convenient kickstand for keeping your device mounted when you want to watch a movie or write those emails. This will remove the need to hold up your tablet manually for hours on end when you fancy watching hours upon hours of YouTube clips in bed. Instead, your OtterBox Defender will simply do the job for you whilst looking awesome.

Featuring a triple layer of protection, by means of a polycarbonate shell sandwiched between two silicone layers, you'll be safe in the knowledge that any knocks or bumps your iPad experiences won't be causing any damage to your device, ensuring that it remains in as good condition as when you first took off those protective seals.

Due to its soft silicone exterior, the Otterbox Defender iPad case won't retain any scratches it accumulates, since you'll simply be able to rub them off by hand or with a damp cloth for any more stubborn marks. This is exactly what you want to hear if you like to keep that fresh-off-the-shelf look with your gadgets, especially when you're dealing with such a clean-looking product as the OtterBox iPad case.

So all that is left for you to decide is exactly which of the wide range of colors you are going to opt for. If you're looking for unmatched style so that your tablet stands out from the crowd, but you don't want to skimp on the protective quality or functionality of the case as a result, the OtterBox Defender iPad case is the be all and end all.

Trident Kraken Hybrid iPad Case Review

Now you might see this case as a bit of an oddball, but it is worthy of its position as one of my favorite tablet cases purely because of the unmatched amount of protection the Trident Kraken Hybrid iPad case offers.

There are many situations where your tablet can fall foul of an accident, leaving it with battle scars that you'll grimace at every time you pick it up. However, the risk of threats to your device's pristine condition no longer require your concern thanks to this extreme case.

With its thick, durable and essentially indestructible design, you'd be hard pressed trying to damage your iPad intentionally, let alone by accident. The case is fashioned from a hefty amount of hard rubber that will not only save your investment from any hairline scratching, but also from any reasonable falls. So if you're the clumsy type and you can see yourself knocking your tablet off the coffee table, dropping it down the stairs or kicking it across the kitchen floor, then there is no better case on the market. This rubber material is inevitably water proof too, and won't pick up any marks or scrapes either, so it'll remain in top condition whatever you throw at it.

The type of user that will benefit from this Trident iPad case the most will undoubtedly be parents with young kids that are at that age where everything gets launched at the floor, no matter how many tellings off they receive. Even if your kids aren't so destructive, the potential for your iPad meeting the floor every now and then is relatively high, which is what makes the Kraken iPad case so appealing. It will offer you that peace of mind that no matter how rough your kids are with it, you'll still be able to remove the body armor at night and browse the web freely.

Unlike other cases, the touch screen area doesn't actually receive any protection since the rubber padding focuses on wrapping around the back of the device and up over the edges to ensure that your screen visuals aren't inhibited in any way. However, because of the raised nature of the rubber material, even if you dropped the tablet flat on its face the rubber would cushion and even out the blow, ensuring that your delicate glass touch screen wouldn't shatter. Regardless of this though, in order to prevent any little touch screen scratches caused by a mishap, the Trident Kraken Hybrid iPad case also includes a free screen protector for making sure that no damage can occur.

So all in all, the Trident Kraken Hybrid iPad case offers a force field level of protection that no other case comes close to competing with. For that reason alone, this case is well worth investing in.

Fashion and Beautiful iPad Covers

If you have an iPad, how would you use it? Just imagine that you put your body in the sofa with your feet on the table and have a journey on the internet with the iPad in your hands. What a wonderful and fashion life! As a matter of fact, iPad is really an important part in the world of fashion. To have fun with iPad, you can just use your figures but not type on the keyboard. Therefore, it is fundamentally different from computer and notebook. Apart from the reading room, you can use it in the living room, bedroom and the bathroom. Thus, it needs more style and personality than computers.

Now it comes to how to make your iPad fashionable. It's a good idea to buy some beautiful and fashion covers for it. There are numbers of iPad covers in the market made by many famous brands. To choose a suitable iPad cover, I like to consider from three aspects like buying a cell phone. They are the style, convenience, and function. The style is the most important part, and convenience is also necessary. As for function, I think the better one should have few functions.

iPad covers can be divided into two categories. One is the envelop model. The other is book cover model. The envelop model iPad cover is so simple in function that you just take your iPad out from it and then use it while you can use the iPad with the book cover model on it. Both of them are wonderful, and you can choose according to your interest.

Let's have a look at the envelop model iPad cover. What I like most ii this Alaia iPad cover, which is Delicate and beautiful and has the same effect as handbags when you holding it. Besides, luxury brand like Louis Vuitton also designed some simple covers that also seem good.

Then, let's look the book cover model. Some of them are really like book cover that you can open it at any time. Some of them have zipper. From my point of view, I like the latter one, which brings more protection and a feeling of safety. However, the book cover model is less than the envelop model in the market. There are still some classical sets of book cover iPad cover like Tory Burch and Rebecca Minkoff, which shows the luxury and personality with leather.

Which one do you like best?

Some of the Main Features of the Apple iPad

The Apple iPad is essentially a tablet computer that positions itself somewhere in the middle between a smartphone and a laptop. The iPad has received a vast wave of publicity since its launch in April, 2010 and since that date has sold over 14 million units and currently accounts for nearly 95% of the tablet marketplace. The main redeeming features of the iPad are relatively easy to identify - it offers a portable and slim line option to consumers on the go who are willing to compromise heavy-duty functionality for more multimedia applications and portability.

One of the main redeeming features of the iPad when compared side-by-side to more traditional devices such as a laptop is its battery life - Apple states that the iPad has an average battery life upwards of ten hours which is far in excess of what a consumer can expect from a typical laptop. However, when charging an iPad it's important to avoid charging it form a standard USB port, doing so may result in a significantly slower charge than what would otherwise be considered reasonable. As with any type of batter, the iPad battery will lose capacity over time, however due to its 10 hour battery life Apple states that it can play in excess of 140 hours of audio content without losing charge.

The iPad has been designed to be as user intuitive as possible and one of the core features of the iPad is its touch screen which enables users to access menus with just the flick of a finger - the screen is also fingerprint resistance. The iPad's screen measures just less than ten inches which is considered to be the minimum requirement for that of a table device and includes built in functionality for screen rotation across four orientations which means user's can utilise the power of the iPad and move it around to adjust for their preferred view.

How to Win and Get a Free iPhone 4 or a Free iPad

The entertainment possibilities of the iPhone 4 and iPad are astronomical. In addition to the previous features, consumers are able to create their own play lists, take high quality pictures, AND watch high definition television with brilliant quality and definition. Files and games can be stored on both the iPad and iPhone 4 as the card memory allows for you to add tons of information without affecting the processing capacity. Is it any wonder why everyone would like to own these items.

The only downfall of either the iPad or the iPhone is the astronomical price tag that leaves these two technologically advanced items out of the reach of most people. Prices can be upwards of $499 for a new iPhone 4, and as high as $900 or more for an Apple iPad with all of the extras included. Who can afford these prices? Not many, and it is because of this that many fans of Apple products are avidly searching for offers promising a free iPad or iPhone.

As with all kinds of free offers, some are too good to be true. Many offers are simply outright scams. Offers which ask you to send money upfront for shipping and handling or other "processing fees" are most likely not legitimate. The only thing that consumers will end up getting with these offers is a lighter wallet.

However there are a number of free iPad and iPhone 4 offers that are legitimate. These particular offers are part of Research & Development programs aimed to improve their products by incorporating both positive and negative feedback from people who own iPads and iPhones. This is not easy to do when many people can't even afford to purchase these items. Why buy a product from a company and give them not only your money, but your time as well? No one who buys an Apple product is going to sit there and give their input for free. To have the ability to get consumer feedback many companies are willing to provide free tester models to users in exchange for feedback about which features they liked, or disliked, and what they would change or improve.

Participants can choose to test either an Apple iPhone or iPad. Testing both products at the same time is not allowed. Once you choose the product you would like to test it is usually received within 1-2 weeks. After you have had the product for awhile and are familiar with it, you will simply provide your feedback about the new features and your overall impression and satisfaction or dissatisfaction with the product. There is no penalty for giving negative reviews. The point of this test is to allow the company to continually improve their products. After the feedback has been given, the iPhone 4 or iPad that you tested is yours to keep, absolutely free. The only thing you will have to give is your time and your honest opinions and feedback.

What Consumers Like and Dislike About the iPad

The Apple iPad is a hit. It isn't really a shock, pretty much every product released by Apple has a huge following before it even hits stores, and the iPad is no different. However, even though consumers are thrilled with this latest addition to the Apple lineup, there are a few things they don't like.

Before we get to the dislikes, let's take a look at what consumers love about the iPad.

Of course its slim and lightweight size is a huge plus. The size makes this one of the most portable computing devices on the market, with the exception of smart phones. Users like the long battery life, the battery stays charged for a fairly long period when in use and it has a standby time of one month. That is pretty great for a computer battery! It is affordable. The base version is about $500 which is less that you would pay for a laptop or a quality netbook. Plus and iPad is so much more than either of these, it is a table computer with a touch screen - can your laptop do that? Good storage space. Even the base model has 16 gigabytes of storage. You can also purchase models that have 32 or 64 gigabytes of storage. Built in wifi and 3G. You are never far from family and friends with a built in wifi connection and 3G capabilities on some models.

Even the greatest products have their problems and consumers have a few dislikes with the iPad.

No battery access. What are you supposed to do when the battery dies? Buy a new one? There is no option to remove the battery because it is sealed inside the unit. So even though consumers love the fact that the iPad has a great battery, once it dies you are out of luck! No standard print option. There will be times that you will want to print from your iPad. But that is not an option unless you download an app. Some of the printing apps haven't got good reviews from consumers so you just don't know if it is worth it. A built in option to connect to a wireless printer would be great. Missing standard features. Consumers are not happy that it does not have Flash, Skype, or even a camera. These are things that we have come to use and love on our computers but with the iPad they aren't even an option.

Even though consumers have a few gripes, the majority are very happy with their iPads. Perhaps Apple will listen to the voices of its users and add these features to future models of this popular product.

iPad Marketing - How to Write and Sell an Instructional E-Book Using Only an iPad

Did you really write and create a sales page for a website using only an iPad? This is the question a friend of mine asked me when I told him that I figured out a system where I could write, edit and sell an instructional E-Book using only my iPad.

Keep in mind that an iPad generally does not have the same functionality of a laptop or desktop computer. Every entry on the iPad is done via a touchscreen keyboard. Also you cannot load your typical trusted software programs onto this device. So if you are like me and you use Dreamweaver web design software to design and upload web pages and you use Microsoft Word to write your Guides before you publish them as PDFs, then you suddenly find yourself in unfamiliar territory if you are trying to write and sell an E-Book using only your iPad.

Now don't get me wrong, when I first got my iPad, friends and strangers would ask me how do you like that thing? I would always smile and give the same answer, "it's a great toy - everyone should have one.". And at that time, it was really being used as a toy. I played some games, watched some movies I rented from iTunes, and even responded to some work emails while on business travel. And yes, I played plenty of Angry Birds on that device.

But then I decided I was going to write a 30 page Guide on a special mortgage business related topic, and I was going to do so using only my iPad. I then realized that I might be able to not only write this Guide on the iPad but I was also determined to sell this Guide at a website that I prepared and uploaded using only my iPad.

Here's how you do it. You need to download three specific Apps from the App Store. One will allow to write your written Guide. The next one will allow you to update webpages at your existing website. And the third app will allow you to upload documents to your website.

Once you learn how to properly use these three Apps you too will be able to run your Internet Business from your iPad. You will of course need to pick a topic that other people would be interested in learning more about. Then, write an outline for your new Guide that you can begin to fill in with great content that will teach your readers the content that your new Guide is all about.

iPad Cheap - The Cheapest Ways to Get an Apple iPad

The easiest way to get an iPad at the cheapest price possible is of course to scour the internet looking for the best 3g, WiFi, 64G etc. deals. As we know the internet is a huge place, so this article has been written to narrow down to the choices and to help the public to find an iPad (or accessories) as cheaply as possible.

The main sites to go for are:

1. eBay- This may seem obvious, but many consumers do go direct to Apple for iPads. I have purchased many products from eBay myself and have had no problems receiving goods on time and in good quality. Make sure that the seller's ratings are high enough that you are confident. Also my advice is not to bid too early.

2. Alibaba.com - This is a well kept secret to everyday consumers. If you contact sellers directly you can haggle for the price. Also, if you can go to the effort of getting a few people together you can buy a few items at the same time and divide the products (including iPad accessories) between you to make savings.

3. Gumtree - At the time of this posting there were over 1,700 results for iPad - many at less than the market price.

These are among the most trusted sites of their nature. The best advice I can give is to either go to these sites (or sites like them directly) or find a site that will scour/search these sites for you and present you with iPads at cheap prices.

iPad 2 Release Date

Rumor has it that the iPad 2 will be released in the month of February 2011. White iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 are on the way which is why I clearly feel that 2011 is going to be a huge year for Apple. According to an online report, Foxconn - the iPad's manufacture, will be shipping around 600,000 units within the next hundred days. Obviously, the Foxconn has refused to comment officially on the status of next iPad.

It is being said that the next generation of iPad will feature not just a rear facing camera, but also SD card slot as well. Report also suggest that it will receive the retina display treatment which is also found on the iPhone 4.

iPad 2 will also have a slimmer design. Let us hope, it would not affect its runtimes. It will also be a bit lighter so that you can carry your iPad more easily. However, complete details are still vague about the iPad's successor. The main question is - can Apple pull it off for less than 500 dollars. Well, we will just have to wait and see.

Even though the new iPad will be unveiled sometime in the month of February, the shipments will commence in May. My suggestion - do not wait till for the next generation this Christmas. Instead, enjoy the amazing discounts that the Apple is giving away with the iPad right now. The refurbished iPads are being offered for need 429 dollars and that too with free shipping.

iPad Accessories - The Main Types

Along with the release of the iPad came numerous iPad accessories. These accessories range from a keyboard dock all the way down to various cables. The main, larger accessories will be discussed in this article, most cables will not be included in the review.

One of the most talked about accessories for the iPad is the iPad keyboard dock. The keyboard dock is a keyboard and dock all in one. The dock includes connectors in the rear for connecting to an electrical outlet, syncing to a computer and an audio line to connect external speakers. In addition to these dock features, the keyboard is full size and includes Apple's usual function key shortcuts to activate features on the iPad similar to the way it functions with a Mac. Apple also offers the dock and the keyboard separate as well. The dock by itself can be used for charging, holding the iPad upright, and using additional connectors in the rear of the dock. The separate keyboard is nice since it is bluetooth and can be used up to 30 feet away from the iPad.

Another popular iPad accessory is the iPad case. This case has a lot of nice features including reinforced panels for additional support that allows the iPad to stand up or can be put at an angle for easy typing and viewing of video. The interior of the case is microfiber that provides a soft surface for the iPad.

Another great iPad accessory is the camera connector kit. This kit comes with two connectors, the first allows you to connect a digital camera via USB cable to the iPad and the other connector allows you to put your SD card directly into the connector to download photos on the iPad. Both are very easy to use and small enough to carry with you when traveling.

There are a couple cables worthy of mentioning for the iPad. One is the 10W USB power adapter and the other is the iPad dock to VGA connector. The 10W USB power adapter does come with the iPad when purchased new, however it can be purchased separate as well. This cable simply provides an easy way to charge your iPad by plugging it into an electrical outlet. The VGA connector on the other hand is great for connecting the iPad to a larger viewing screen such as a television, projector or monitor. This is a nice feature for watching video and viewing photos. As you can see there are a variety of iPad Accessories to choose from. Regardless of the reason for using the iPad, these accessories will provide additional features such as viewing video on your TV or syncing photos from your digital camera with the iPad. These accessories give the iPad the additional functionality and flexibility for almost any use.

De iPad Reviewed

The iPad is a brilliant concept: a computer that only thanks to your touch. Since the announcement of the iPad on January 27, 2010, no device has generated so much hype. iPad rumors ranged with Mac OS X to having a built-in in the camera. This article will present the facts and dispel rumors. And with all the Hype you'll need to have Internet on the go certainly rumors dispelled and the actions described.

The iPad has a 9.7-inch multitouch LED (lit) display a pixel resolution of 1024 x 768, an A4 processor, 16-64 GB of Flash storage, 802 .11n Wi-Fi support and Bluetooth 2.1. The iPad comes in 2 flavors: a WIFI only version and a WIFI + 3 G version. The iPad weighs about 1.6 Lbs. like its predecessors it has an accelerometer and runs on the iPhone OS (albeit a slightly amended version). The iPad claims 10 hour battery life, although the settings that are used to achieve this are not known. There are some critical comments with these functions. Why is the iPhone OS was used instead of MAC OS? Mac OS is not optimized for multitouch display as the iPhone OS. Another criticism concerns the A4 processor. The A4 processor includes the same graphics chip as the iPhone 3 g, but are only 400 mhz higher. Will the A4 processor support for the higher resolution without bugs or crashes? The iPad runs on an aspect ratio of 4: 3. This aspect ratio is great for reading books and surfing the web, but the problematic for watching movies will be--the boxing letter would be too large

The criticism. The three major criticism on the iPad: the lack of flash, the lack of multitasking and the lack of a camera. The lack of flash is to officially declare by interfering with the battery life of the device. Unofficially, there are several possible explanations. One guesses that Apple wants to retain a strong control of its AppStore. Enable flash will allow users to get applications that are usually sold on the AppStore for free and so undermine Apples profits (no longer the $ 99 developer fee). Second guess States that Apple wants to the herald of the new technology of HTML 5. Seeing the popularity of the iPad, developers will want to jump on the bandwagon to HTML5 to maximize profits. Although flash is predominant in the web today, HTML5 will slowly eat away at Adobe's monopoly and yet, there is nothing a good jailbreak are not resolved. The lack of Multitasking is also a problem. Multitasking is actually already present in the iPhone OS 3.0, but it's only limited to Apple Apps. This is done for security reasons and battery reasons. An Insider of Apple has announced that Apple has already announced the solution to the problem of multitasking, maybe will be the new "tap" gesture from a long "task manger"-like interface. Again, repair nothing not a jailbreak (Proswitcher + backgrounder for the iPhone). Another concern for potential consumers is the lack of camera. One should expect things like this from Apple-a camera is something they would add it to the iPad Generation 2 to promote the sale. A camera should not be the selling point, but for consumers who need a camera--absolutely 30pin annex is rumored for the iPad a camera

The good. The iPad was never intended as a netbook replacement. A netbook is a small cart device. The iPad offers a closed, fluid and stream lined experience. There are tablets that are technologically superior to the iPad (HPSlate and understanding ink of Adam). These devices are not optimized for the Mobile Platform. The HPSlate runs on Windows 7, an uncomfortable choice for a touch aiming device. Notion ink Adam is running on Android 2.0, but it runs on a Pixel Qi screen (coloured e-ink)--not a good replacement for LCD. The iPad is a closed system, so no nasty bugs and viruses (imagine a virus on a Tablet PC). The iPad comes with access to an already populated AppStore. What your interests are 140,000 + apps will suit all your needs. The iPad offer some of the technical features to an experience that someone as young as a child or not tech oriented as a senior.

As of 12 March, the iPad could be preordered. You must pre-order an iPad? I would advise against. Wait a few days after the official release of the iPad (3 April for USA and a little later for other countries) and a few videos to get the General feel of the device. Wait for all the hype and to decide whether it is your type of a device. Which version should you buy? I would recommend the 3 G-there is nothing like having the Internet on your fingers, but if you plan to use the iPad at home, the Wifi version should do fine. The iPad is a revolutionary new device. Not left behind

iPad Review-pros and cons of the 1st Gen iPads Reviewed

A brief iPad review is as below. iPad is in fact a device that fills the space between the iPod touch and laptops. Although there are a lot of speculation about it, I will down the the pros and cons for you to decide on your own. If you ask me, I love the device as something. In my opinion, it is an edge over all netbooks and the colorless kindle eBook readers as well. The style, elegance, ease that Apple has delivered with it is incomparable.

Pros of Apple iPads

Great starting price -for a power packed iPad, $ 499 is a decent promotional price to start. Quite a crucible. Everyone is expecting that the start of $ 599 and above.

Slim weight and size -iPad is 1.5 pounds in weight and 0.5 inch is great. This drew the blood line of sleekness quotient of Apple products. It may not be more convenient.

iPad ApplicationsThe iPod applications on larger screen and iTunes store, now looks even more beautiful. 140,000 apps are already in the offing from the App store with a special section for apps designed specifically for iPads.

iBooks -once you have downloaded the application, buy the iBooks is a piece of cake. And they automatically get ranked on your virtual Bookshelf. And in a typical style of Apple, which you can tap on the book you want to open up for you.

Bigger, better photo viewing – what's more amazing is that you have everything with pictures such as in an iPhone touch can do. Just tap, pinch, zoom in and out, flip, and more. You would like the crisp, clear screen that are so very apple. The Camera Connection Kit also allows importing photos from an SD memory card or camera.

The iWork apps also work on Mac-iWork apps for only $ 9.99 are superb also add us. Package deal options would be more desirable.

Traditional keyboard accessory -always been there school of people resenting the use of the virtual keyboard. Apple has a traditional keyboard along with it, now provide carefully in case you more comfortable using it. This can be a bit less portable, but is a big deal for many. And otherwise, the virtual keyboard is as big as the real as well.

No cellular contract -Yes! No cellular contract is required for the two options for 3 g. $ 14.99 for 250 mb is available for just $ 29.99 unlimited data and the are.
Disadvantages of the 1st Gen iPads

Adobe Flash Player -Flash files make things slow and restrictive. This was understandable with iphones but not with iPads. The blue question mark for no flash players is a frustrating thing to see. No one can have a great Web browsing experience without Flash. Apple need to figure out this with Adobe in any way possible or soon find an alternative with iPad 2.0.

Multitasking -the first edition of the iPad needs to improve his abilities multitasking. iPads have raised our expectations through the roof. With such a powerful processor, apple could have easily recording multitasking on iPads. For example, if you cannot listen to WunderRadio while reading a book, unless of course the drive is streaming on Safari. We can put up with the battery life shorter, but certainly not without multitasking.

HDMI Out -at the moment, there is not a wireless connection to a TV or a HDTV. Apple TV can easily get replaced if a HDTV. It is a bit surprising why they for connecting the two main sets is not considered. And I'm pretty sure it will be added in 2nd generation iPads.

Camera option-a left and right page front camera for iChat video would be a great feature for iPads, adding more utilities. This can create the hugely popular with each generation. I'm sure it has to do with the price, but an option of the camera is a must, whatsoever.

Widescreen option-you can tap on to see a movie in full screen or widescreen. It's not as wide as the most wide-screen formats are but it makes a big difference or watching movies on it.

AT & t only for 3 G-it's great to have no cellular contracts for 3 G but the current AT & t has been less than ideal service for iPhone users. This will further the network with more devices try to connect by using the hide. I think, would a more suitable alternative to our Verizon users.

Well with the first generation release device is not perfect. And it is certainly likely to improve, and features on the wish list have added. But General Ipad rocks. I plan to make it my all time companion soon. You don't want it too?

Should I buy an iPad for work?

The iPad is undoubtedly a powerful computing device, but does not add any value for any work environment.

We have the iPad a fundamental part of our workflow since the launch, travel with the carry on business, on 3 continents in person presentations, taking notes of the meeting and we have even made presentations. The verdict-it is a powerful business tool depending on your unique role and work style.

This article will help you evaluate the usefulness of an iPad for you. Read each of the following ten decision factors and evaluate whether the iPad is right for you or not.

--

1. it's a hassle to print for each client/prospect of meeting the same material.

» Many sales people waste valuable time printing fresh material for each client visit. The iPad, you can move from paper and parts of documents on "virtual" pages on the iPad.

2. I have customers/prospects who prefer electronic/PDF documents instead of paper copies.

» Your customers may be to throw away all your printed materials like after each meeting or where they can search your materials electronically file them. Additionally, you can email the iPad you documents immediately in the meeting.

3. I am often absent and don't have a laptop.

» Are you at your desk all day, has a more limited number of scenarios that will be useful iPad. Individuals with regular in-person meetings will benefit most from the presentation, email and reference features in the iPad. If you have a laptop and write e-mails and documents on-the-go, nothing beats the power of a laptop with a keyboard and fully featured operating system.

4. it is realistic for me to move to a less paper-centered work system (meeting notes, customer files, etc.).

» A iPad will cause you to move from paper for many aspects of your work (such as calendars, notes, and tasks lists). Are you ready to give a paper file folder for each client/project, will the iPad powerful for you.

5. my customers are advanced or impressed with technology (wouldn't mock "a shiny new gadget").

» The iPad will be a sophisticated, high-tech image that will be embraced by some and seen by others as a distraction from the project. The technology should enable your work, not distract from it.

6. my work email mobile friendly technology (such as Microsoft Exchange or Google Apps), is used and can mobile or web connections.

» Have easy access to e-mail, calendars and contacts is one of the best features of the iPad, but this work requires that your systems are compatible. Please contact your IT manager to find out if your company supports synchronization with the iPad.

7. I am already using an electronic diary (or the desire to move from a paper-based system).

» The calendar in the iPad works well and allows you to accept and send meeting requests to others. If you are not ready to give a paper calendar, you will miss out on a significant advantage.

8. I international travel and need reliable access to the internet while traveling.

» Internet access during the trip can inconsistent and expensive. The GSM/AT & t model of the iPad will allow you to buy pre-paid internet access for about the same price as an airport internet connection and remain online regardless of which country you are visiting. It can also save you from costly hotel internet fees.

9. I am not compelled to company-specific software applications that can only be run on my computer at work.

» The iPad runs only applications written and published to the Apple App Store and websites that do not depend on Adobe Flash technology. If your company is a specific application that must be installed on a computer, it will probably not compatible with the iPad. Please contact your IT manager to find out if there are specific applications that are not accessible on the iPad.

10. spending $ 25 per month + the upfront cost of the iPad ($ 629 + USD) would be a problem for my budget.

» If you are a United States-based iPad user, we recommend that you purchase a WiFi + 3 G iPad. The 3 G (cellular data)-service costs between $ 15 and $ 25 per month. No long term contracts are required.

iPad Versus iPhone

iPad versus iPhone has always been an interesting and tough subject for comparison for the users. iPad and iPhone are similar in many ways. They both have many same functions and display features. However the major difference is off the efficiency and compatibility of the device with the user.

Some of the future is mainly similar in both iPad and iPhone but they vary in speed, quality and efficiency. When a consumer approaches the market to buy a new electrical device from this iPad and iPhone category he generally needs to refer the below given differences.

The first and the most important feature to be considered is the memory made available by the device. Both of the devices provide enough memory for normal use in to the comfortable with. However some of the uses are tend to use the device for business, entertainment and personal reasons. Thus it becomes utterly necessary for them to select the device that gives them maximum memory. The iPhone comes with a 16 GB and 32 GB flash drives. In case of iPad, it not only provides 16 GB and 32 GB flash drives but also provides a 64 GB flash drive that makes it very comfortable for a user to replace its day-to-day PC needs with iPad. There are some more factors that should be considered in iPad versus iPhone comparison.

When it comes to entertainment and media options the display of the device plays a very important role. Both iPad and iPhone are multimedia enabled devices. Both of them provide media that may be music, videos or any other kind of entertainment that is available today. However the display qualities of both the devices vary. iPad has a higher resolution off 1024 * 768 pixels than the iPhone's which gives the resolution of 480*320 pixels. This makes iPad much superior than iPhone, when it comes to watching the device and other entertainment files.

For the business class who use these devices the most important feature is that typing device. iPhone has a much smaller and sometimes tricky to use keyboard which repulses many of the users from them. The iPhone's are not compatible with many of the external keyboards that have been provided. On the other hand iPad has a very roomy and comfortable virtual keyboard. This keyboard can be very efficient while working on it. However if an iPad is held in angle or is held 90 upright the keyboard becomes almost unusable. This disadvantage gives a hard blow to iPad as it cannot be used very comfortably when placed on lap. However Apple has launched a keyboard dock that walks a solution for this disadvantage.

These are some of the differences that a user may usually find in iPad and iPhone's. The iPad may look like an ideal device of many of the uses but considering the price iPhone also can be very popular in some of the sectors. Thus iPad versus iPhone comparison does not have any end but depends on the user of what feature they need to select.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Compared to the Apple iPad

A new market segment was created when the iPad was launched. This segment between a netbook PC and smartphone has been dominated by the iPad since that launch. The big mainstream manufacturers are now launching their products in that market, the first coming from Samsung. So how does the Samsung Galaxy Tab compare to the Apple iPad?

Samsung Galaxy Tab Specifications:

7-inch display 1GHz Cortex A8 processor Android 2.2 operating system plus Samsung's TouchWiz User Interface Up to 7 hours of battery life 16GB or 32GB internal storage 3G and WiFi for online connectivity Video calling and a 3 megapixel rear-facing camera for taking pictures HD movie playback Adobe Flash support GPS navigation Expandable memory HDMI, USB and docking ports for accessories E-reader software

How is the Samsung Galaxy Tab different to the Apple iPad?

The iPad's screen is 9.7-inches (measured diagonally) compared to the smaller 7-inch format on the Samsung tablet so you get less screen to play with but it's more portable. The Galaxy Tab also has access to the Android Market applications plus Samsung's own apps but the iPad has access to the Apple App Store which offers a much larger choice of apps and more that are optimised for a tablet device. Apps on the iPad are restricted to those approved by Apple App Store, Samsung doesn't restrict their apps so you can load whatever you want.   The battery of the Galaxy Tab is capable of up to 7 hours of continuous video playback on a single charge compared to up to 10 hours on the iPad. The processor on the is more powerful than the iPad's. The iPad doesn't support Adobe Flash so parts of the web aren't accessible such as some video, games and animation. The iPad doesn't have a USB port for attaching peripheries or a memory stick and the iPad's storage capacity can't be extended - you're restricted by the model you buy initially. The Galaxy Tab has a camera for video conferencing and taking pictures, the 1st generation iPad doesn't have either.

Samsung Galaxy Tab vs iPad

The iPad is established and was the first to market so has the advantage. It's very stable, has an established app market and huge iTunes library of music, video and much more. The long battery life, excellent user interface, and video capability mean the iPad has a fantastic user experience.

The Galaxy Tab has a large number of the things that people have complained are missing from the iPad such as USB ports, extendable memory, Flash support and freedom to load whatever you want on your tablet PC.

Apple are dominating the market but all the other big manufacturers are entering it now and only time will tell who the big winners are.

How to Take Advantage of a Free iPad Promotion

Are you one of the masses that are going off the deep end thanks to the new Apple iPad but won't give in to the high price tag that comes with it? The cost if an iPad, at the very least $499, is a hell of a lot to have to cough up! There really is a different way to get that iPad. How about getting an Apple iPad for FREE! Yep, that means not even paying one red cent for it! Do I have your attention yet?

Just about every time anyone hears something like this, they find it hard to believe and kind of dubious. It really isn't and that's too bad for them, because these people are losing out on one heck of a deal! They just don't know that marketing companies give very valuable rewards to testers for their help in testing out some of the hottest merchandise that have just been launched. When I say reward them very nicely, I mean like letting them own the product lock, stock, and barrel!

They NEED testers desperately like you and I to do the post launch testing of these products to figure out if these manufactured products can sell better by making minor adjustments in the advertising and marketing campaigns and possibly make improvements to the products! One of the big products that people are being recruited to test right now is the Apple iPad.

Here is how it works. A predetermined quantity of iPads has been designated for testing for the people that sign up for testing. Free Apple iPads will become the property of those that agree to do testing in private, meaning test it and keeping the findings to yourself, aside from reporting them to the testing company, of course!

The giving away of free iPads has resulted in tremendous goodwill for the company! How would you feel about a company that just gave you one of the hottest items in the marketplace that costs a minimum of $500 for free. Pretty good, right? That attained goodwill will get for them lots of new potential buyers for their manufactured products in the future. It really is a no lose situation for everyone! A pretty terrific deal, right?

Nearly always, these free product offers for testing can only be found during the first few months of the product launching. That is happening right now for the Apple iPad. It can come to a close at any time. As quickly as the testing company feels they have sufficient test results to base their actions on, they will terminate the distribution and testing of the iPads. Therefore, if you want to test the iPad and get to keep one, there is no time to waste. Go sign up now if you really want that free iPad.

There are a few places to find these types of offers online, just be careful not to be taken in by a scamming promotion. If they try to get you to send money upfront before they are willing to send you the phone and give their word to return it to you after you send back the test results, give them a big no! You would never see your money again! Just go on to the next offer! You don't have to hand over any cash to do testing, that's just insane! However...If you can find one of the genuine offers online and take note of what I tell you, you can own that new iPad to go extreme over in a few days!

The New iPad 2 Released Wrapped With Conspiracy Theories

When Steve Jobs released the much anticipated iPad predecessor last March 2, almost everybody who was into the iPhone and iPad mania were glued to their iTunes waiting for the keynotes presentation in Apple's podcast. In the event, Apple has definitely made a totally revolutionary version of the iPad, far different from that of the first iPad.

Some of the very obvious changes that has happened to the new iPad is that it now has 2 cameras to support Facetime, a new and faster A5 processing chip and a significant change in the weight and slimness, which according to Steve Jobs official presentation, the new Apple Pad is 33% thinner than the previous. That is an amazing improvement, considering that Apple has not changed the battery life, that the former iPad was known for that lasted 10 hours nor did they change its price. But like any successful product being thrown into the market, there some stumbling blocks along its road. While for others it may be a paltry hindrance, I have to admit; this one is probably the most weird I have heard in a long time.

After Apple has released the new iPad 2, conspiracy theorists who literally worship the writings of the famous author Dan Brown and have overly active minds who think that there is some kind of symbolism for anything they see under the sun have now started to say that Apple officers, particularly Steve Jobs are member of the secret and controversial society known as the Freemasons. And what is their fantastic argument? It's because Apple created the new iPad 2 to be 33% thinner!

They argue that the number 33 is a mystical number in Freemasonry and that it is a code that is used, like what Isaac Newton did when he created his Newton scale, saying that the boiling point is 33 degrees. Even the Freemasons highest order is called the 33rd degree, so they connected one and one together and now is saying that probably Jobs is a Mason of the 33rd degree as well!

Well, come to think about it, why did Apple make the new iPad 2 33% thinner, not 31% or even 34%? Would it just be a coincidence? If you ask me, many conspiracy theorists are just too obsessed with their theories; sometimes believing them is nice only to a fantasy level. Other than that, I'd have a headache trying to comprehend the ideas they make and presume. But then again, that's their personal opinion.

Freemason or not, one thing is for sure, I love the new iPad 2! And I'd definitely get iPad 2 insurance for it as soon as it's available. Comprehensive iPad 2 insurance has been hitting the searches as early as January and the UK market is ready for it, whether Steve is a 33rd degree Mason or not.

iPad Apps Development and the Early Days

Apple's iPad has been the definitive device of the uber cool user and hence you can already find apps to watch streaming movies, use social networks, word processing and lots more. This is close on the heels of the launch a year back.

But since its early days yet, Apple has only allowed some refined developers early access to the make apps for the iPad. The rest of the world has to contend with software simulators and some mockups. Many apps have been rushed to market too. Some of the earliest iPad apps are extremely buggy and missing important features. But one thing is for sure. The Apple iPad has literally taken the experience of browsing web, email, photos and videos to an altogether new level!

With 185,000 apps and still counting at a furious pace (it might have crossed 200,000 by the time this article will get 10 clicks), the App Store is indeed a very vast warehouse of digital goodies for iPad. But, it all depends on the iPad application developer to provide quality and usability. It is very important for iPad app developers to plan in-demand as bring in trendy and innovative applications to leverage the features of the iPad.

Many people have scoured the Store, and tried to pick up the best ones which can help you to use the iPad's fullest potential. You can play the games that you like and use the business apps on the go. Indeed there is an app for everybody's use and you have to find that out!

There are various companies who specialize especially in iPad apps development. With the increasing demand of new mobile apps, many offshore companies have roped in experienced developers and professionals who are experts in iPad and iPhone App Development. They really have the mind to bring crazy ideas to life. These iPad SDK programmers have built a plethora of applications for various functions and purposes. They just have to stay ahead of the curve and learn and be abreast of the wants of the market to churn out real useful apps.

From the organizational perspective, there is hot competition brewing in between app development companies. It is very advantageous too for companies of the western countries to outsource iPad apps development. This does help in monetary terms and saving of time. Moreover, with countries like India, the developers and professionals are fluent in English and talented enough to bring ideas to life at a very cheap rate compared to that of their western counterparts.

Best Bluetooth iPad Keyboard For Use With The Pages App

The fact that you are looking for the best Bluetooth iPad keyboard for use with the Pages app tells me two things right off the mark. The first is that you are a regular user of the iPad's best word processor and the second is that you have come into difficulties when trying to use the touchscreen keyboard for the job.

Now, the main problem with writing extensive text documents on the iPad is that the touchscreen keys simply cannot keep up. Sure, they are responsive enough and very effective when you are entering a search term on Google, or you are writing a status update on Facebook or Twitter, but when you actually come down to doing some rapid typing, things begin to take a turn for the worse. The two main problems are that the keys are not a physical device, but are instead like typing on a pane of glass. Naturally, this looks fantastic, but the fact that you can never tell whether you have hit the right key or not without having to look at the actual Pages document can result in the typing experience being a matter of guesswork. This is especially the case when you increase the rate at which you are typing.

The second problem is purely down to how inaccurate we, as users, become once we hit a certain typing speed. When you are using the Pages app to type out large documents, whether they are university lecture notes, business seminar summaries or a homework project for school, these touchscreen issues can really begin to highlight themselves. Hitting the wrong key is all too common, along with accidentally missing out a few keys here and there as a result of your pace. I have also found that I keep hitting the "n" key as opposed to the space bar too when typing at speed, along with the list of random auto-corrections that the iPad seems to amuse itself in making throughout your document.

So what is the solution? Well, for me it had to be the Blurex D-Lux leather iPad case with Bluetooth iPad keyboard. This product features a full hard material keyboard incorporated within a sturdy and gorgeous leather case that will leave your tablet looking and typing impeccably.

The first major benefit is that full keyboard with hard keys. Now, I only emphasize the fact that this product has hard keys in respect of the vast number of similar wireless iPad keyboards that utilize a soft rubber material for their keys. After trying one out myself before investing in the D-Lux model, I found that I was still yearning for that laptop style typing experience. This is what made the Blurex so effective for me, since I could essentially transfer all my laptop typing skills right onto my iPad. The Bluetooth iPad keyboard also featured a fantastic set of shortcut keys that enabled me to cut the amount of time I would spend jumping between documents too. So when I needed to select all, cut, copy and paste, I could do so at the touch of a button. This was also great when I was citing references from online sources with my essay writing for my law degree.

On top of this fantastic keyboard, the whole package was fitted nicely inside this excellent quality leather iPad case that would keep both my tablet and the keyboard safe from damage when commuting. The case also folds out with a tilt function so that you can angle your tablet facing toward you and type just as you would with a laptop.

However, you should not just assume that this Blurex leather iPad case is just trying to emulate a laptop. I would always choose to type with my iPad over my laptop now and you know why? Simply because I always have the option to slip the tablet out of its case and use the touch screen whenever I please. This is what makes this iPad typing set up so appealing to me, since you can go from typing out a 12 page document on Pages, to playing a mean game of Angry Birds in 5 seconds flat.

So if you want that diversity in your tablet experience offered by a Bluetooth iPad keyboard and leather case combo, the only product you will need is the Blurex D-Lux.

The Best Leather iPad Case With Keyboard

The reason most users would invest in the best leather iPad case with keyboard generally comes down two predominant desires. The first is inevitably to keep your device safe when commuting and the second is to improve the typing proficiency of the tablet in general.

But why exactly are these improvements needed? Well, the durability of the tablet is inevitably not too good when you are planning on taking it to the office with you. The same goes for any travelling where you will need to transport your device in a rucksack of some description, because the touchscreen and the aluminium shell are just so delicate. Even the slightest bump or scrape can leave you with huge gashes and scars that will not only make you squirm at the thought of your investment being tarnished, but will also inhibit your viewing experience. This is why investing in a leather iPad case is such a popular idea.

As for the wireless iPad keyboard, this comes down to the fact that the touchscreen keys are a little temperamental at times. What I mean to say is, if you are typing anything more than a few lines at a considerable pace, you can look forward to going back through your text and correcting all the spelling errors. But why is the touchscreen keyboard so messy? Well, it is not actually the keyboard itself, but rather the unpredictable nature of typing with it. Since the keys are not actually there, unlike on a laptop, you cannot actually feel whether or not you have hit the correct key. In this way, when you are typing quickly, the process becomes a game of guesswork, which inevitably leaves you occasionally hitting the wrong key or no key altogether. Naturally, no one wants to be spending hours going through their text every time they type, which is what makes a bluetooth iPad keyboard so appealing.

So which product have I chosen to take the crown as the best leather iPad case with keyboard?

Well, the product I fell in love with was the Blurex D-Lux. This is a leather iPad case that implements a wireless iPad keyboard within its inner sleeve. In this way, you can simply fold up your device into a convenient, portable folio that is absolutely ideal for commuting. The best part is that it will keep your device in absolutely pristine condition due to the high grain leather casing that surrounds every inch of the tablet. In this way, you can put your investment through all kinds of abuse without having to worry about the repercussions.

The bluetooth iPad keyboard itself is actually the main reason why I invested in this specific product. The reason? Simple... because the keys are of good quality for once. You will see that Amazon features plenty of iPad keyboards that are made from a cheaper, silicone material which is fine for those on a budget, but I wanted to have the best of the best with my keys to ensure that I would actually see a big improvement in my iPad typing. Needless to say, since the keys were essentially a full set of laptop keys, my proficiency and accuracy rose substantially, allowing me to take down my dictated lecture notes with ease without having to constantly look down at my screen at the lines upon lines of red underlining. This separated the D-Lux from the rest as being the best bluetooth iPad keyboard in its price range, since similar priced models relied on those unresponsive silicone iPad keys that I found to be no better than the touchscreen keys!

Therefore, for the amount of time the Blurex D-Lux leather iPad case with keyboard has saved me, this reason alone is enough to justify its cost. So if you are looking for the best and nothing less, give the D-Lux a try.

How to Adjust the iPad's Mail Settings

You can change the appearance of your iPad mail along with other functions as you wish. The iPad includes a breadth of features in the mail program you can customize. To change your default settings for your iPad Mail, always start by following these steps:

A) Make sure you are at the Home Screen. If not, press the "Home Button"
B) Tap "Settings"
C) Tap "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" on the left hand panel of the Settings Page.
D) Once you press "Mail, Contacts, Calendars," the right hand panel will allow you to customize the items listed below and much more.

Battery Tip: If you are looking to maximize battery life, consider reducing the amount of times your iPad uses push mail to retrieve your messages.

3G Tip: For iPad 3G owners, you can save on bandwidth usage by reducing the amount of times the iPad retrieves mail as well as the number of messages retrieved.

Minimum Font Size - The default setting for the minimum font size on your iPad is medium. You have the option to change from Small to Giant. There are a total of 5 different font sizes. Simply tap on "Minimum Font Size" on the right hand panel to bring up a menu box with the size selections.

Show Messages - By default the iPad will show you the last 50 messages. You can show as many as 200 recent messages by pressing "Show" on the right hand panel.

Custom Signatures - The default signature on your iPad is "Sent from my iPad." If you want to delete that message for privacy, or want to add a custom signature simply press "Signature" to type in your unique message. At the time of this writing the built in iPad mail application does not allow for multiple signatures unique for each email account. This might present a problem for those who use the iPad for business and personal uses, and uses a unique signature for each. For those who want custom signatures or each email address, there are 3rd party email clients available for the iPad that allow such a level of customization.

Mail Previews - By default the iPad will display a two-lines of text for each email message. You can change this from no preview up to five lines by tapping on "Preview."

Default Mail Account - The iPad will allow multiple email accounts. However, if you have a primary email account you use for everything, consider setting that account as the Default Mail Account. This will be the email account chosen for all outgoing messages. Of course, you can always change the outgoing message mail account before you press "send."

Organize by Thread - Your iPad will group your email messages by its history. This is called threaded messaging. By default this feature is turned on. However, if you wish to go back to the old style and sort all emails by date and time, you can turn this off by pressing "Organize by Thread."

Kindle DX Vs iPad: Both Have Big Screens But Which Is the Better Ereader?

Despite some predictions early in 2010 that ebook readers could be on their last legs as must-have consumer devices, ebook reading devices look like they're going to be sticking around for much longer. In fact, ereaders are forever being pitted against the one device that was supposed to be responsible for their early demise - the Apple iPad.

This iPad vs Kindle DX battle puts the two big screen ebook readers on a head to head battle against each other. Yes, we're not forgetting that the iPad is a tablet first and foremost, but with all the comparisons of the iPad versus other ebook readers being made, it's but proper to match it up against the ereader that is on the same level, well at least size-wise, which is the Amazon Kindle DX.

Size

The physical frames of the iPad and the Kindle DX are about the same size. While, there are few differences - the Kindle is slightly longer, and the iPad has a bit more width, depth, and weight - you shouldn't feel that much of a difference holding one device or the other.

Display

The two devices have the exact same screen size, 9.7-inch diagonal but the technologies used however, are as different as day and night. The LED-backlit full color IPS display of the iPad would really outshine the Kindle's e-ink screen, which, with 16 grayscale shades, looks rather dull. But whereas the iPad's LCD is a must for activities that require color (watching movies, web surfing, etc), the e-ink screen the Kindle sports is also perfect for glare-free reading, and eliminates eye strain. And isn't that what you buy dedicated ereaders for?

User Interface

The iPad's screen also uses touch screen technology and again, the experience of being able to browse through picture galleries or web pages, or playing interactive games with just flicks of one's fingers is incomparable. On the other hand, the Kindle relies on push button technology, a 5-way controller, and a physical keyboard for navigation. Not exactly the fastest or most modern way of doing things but it works with the Kindle's simple, fuss-free image.

Battery Life

E-ink trumps LCD however, when it comes to battery efficiency. Compared to the Amazon device's 2 to 3 weeks of battery life, the iPad can only last about 10 hours without a recharge.

Price

The Kindle DX is currently priced at $379, while 16GB editions of the iPad start at $499 and $629 for the Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi with 3G models respectively. The DX has no Wi-Fi connectivity but who needs one when you've got free 3G? You also have to remember that with an iPad with 3G model, you also to allocate about $15 to $30 dollars more monthly for the data plan.

Kindle DX s iPad: Which Device Comes Out on Top?

Well, it really depends on which TOP list you're referring to. The iPad is still the tablet to beat, and the Kindle DX is undoubtedly one of the best dedicated ebook readers in the market today. While the iPad's ebook reading features are fantastic for browsing through color and picture-filled content such as magazines, children's books, and cookbooks, it still doesn't have the e-ink technology reading experience the Kindle DX offers.

Kindle Vs iPad: Which Is the Better Ebook Reader?

No doubt about it, the Kindle and the iPad are two very different devices; the former is a dedicated ebook reader while the latter is a tablet PC which can also serve as an ereader. Both started the trend in their respective markets and they continue to dominate these markets to this day.

But considering that the iPad was once touted as the device that could bring the ereader industry (dominated by the Kindle) to its knees, it is still interesting to note how a Kindle vs iPad comparison would pan out. Of course, we would be comparing features that pertain to the respective device's usability as an ebook reader.

Size and Design

The size of the device is very important when evaluating ereaders. After all, you would be looking for something which you can hold in your hand for hours if needed without being hampered by its bulk and without feeling its weight. In this regard, the Kindle 3 fits this requirement perfectly. Weighing only 8.7 ounces, it's a lightweight compared to the 24-oz iPad. The Kindle is 7.5" in length, 4.8" in width and 0.335" in height, while the iPad measures 9.56" x 7.47" x 0.5". With these dimensions, it's pretty obvious that the Kindle is the more compact and portable device.

Display and Readability

Who wouldn't be attracted to the iPad's glossy 9.7-inch LED backlit IPS display? In contrast, the Kindle's 6-inch grayscale e-ink screen would really look rather dull. But then again, e-ink technology goes perfectly with ebook reading - no glare, no eyestrain - so a real book lover may yet say no to the glitz of the iPad and go with the "drab" Kindle, as far as reading books go.

Graphics

As more magazine and newspaper subscriptions are being routed to ebook readers, the device's ability to render graphics and illustrations has become a factor for some. This is where the iPad shines over the Kindle. Its full color multi touch LCD gives life to color magazines, children's books, newspapers, and other document with such content in a way that the Kindle can't.

Battery Life

With the user's capability to do so many things on the iPad - web browsing, video playbacks, email, playing interactive games, Facebook, Twitter, etc. - and on a full color screen at that, one can't expect it to last for more than a day. With a Kindle on the other hand, you can go on "space shuttle missions" (as Wired magazine puts it), and still have battery life left to spare on your device.

Price

No Kindle vs iPad comparison would be complete without a mention of their respective costs. The difference in the functionalities of the two devices is perhaps proportional to the difference in their prices. The Wi-Fi only model of the Amazon Kindle is priced at $139, while the Wi-Fi + 3G version costs $50 more at $189. These prices are a far cry from the iPad's starting prices for 16GB models - $499 for Wi-Fi only and $629 for Wi-Fi and 3G. You'd have to dig deeper into your pocket for iPads with 32GB and 64GB memory.

Kindle vs iPad - Which Ereader Do We Pick?

While we'd like to say that the Kindle wins because it is the dedicated ereader, or the iPad wins because it is more than just an ereader, things aren't as clear cut as this.

If you'd like to have a gadget that can simply give you hours of reading pleasure and won't break your bank, then the Kindle is your best bet. On the other hand, if you are more of a multi-tasker and like the all-in-one functionality that the iPad offers, then by all means, bite the Apple. The bottom line is, the consumer opts for the device that best fits his needs and budget.
